Etain Ho


Co-founder


Etain Ho is a registered architect in the UK. After receiving Bachelor of Arts from The University of Hong Kong and Master of Architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture in University College London, she worked at Heatherwick Studio, where she participated in Toranomon Azabudai mixed-use development in Tokyo, Al-Fayah Park in Abu Dhabi, and Bombay Sapphire Distillery in the UK. In Hong Kong, she worked at CL3 Architects and participated in the construction of Raffle City Chongqing Clubhouse. In 2021, she and Francis started their own design practice. Etain is the co-founder and director of Canalside Studio.

Francis Lam


Co-founder


Francis Lam studied architecture at The University of Hong Kong. After receiving Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture at HKU, he worked at Heatherwick Studio in London, where he participated in the design of Google Bay View Campus in California, and the new Terminal 5 of Changi Airport in Singapore. Whilst in the UK, he was also design apprentice to Margaret Sainsbury, studying three-dimensional CNC limestone, 3d-printed aggregate textures, and woodwork design. In 2021, he and Etain started their own design practice. Francis is the co-founder and director of Canalside Studio.

Canalside Studio is a design practice curious at multiple disciplines from architecture, interior to installation art and product. We approach design subjects through questions and innocent perspectives, to identify practical constraints and distill its essential characters into a unique experience.
